Solar App Dashboard
Context
I worked on a complete UX/UI redesign of the dashboard for the Sunrun mobile app, scaling visual and brand updates across the multi-platform design system.
I collaborated with two Product Managers, Engineering, and another Product Designer, who led the user research and testing. I also worked closely with the Marketing team and the Executive Leadership Team throughout the project.

Dynamic motion design
I used Lottie to create lightweight motion assets that dynamically change with the state of the user’s system. They provide instant visual cues about what the system is doing and how the hardware is performing.
The background and design of the house also update with the time of day at the location of the system.

A comprehensive redesign
We scaled the new interface design across all app features & screens. Working closely with engineering, we built a net-new design system and component library, which we subsequently scaled across the multi-platform design system.

We scaled the design & interaction I created for the dashboard across other platforms and channels, including web, tablet, email, & marketing.
Hardware integration
We needed to be able to accommodate data pulled in from a diverse set of hardware. Each customer’s system is different,so the interface needed to be versatile.
Many of the tasks that users come to the app to accomplish require understanding lots of complex data. One big challenge was devising an elegant, systematic solution for data visualization.
Customization
The user research told us that customization is important to our customers. They wanted to be able to prioritize information that is important to them, so we implemented a modular structure for the UI.
